San Antonio is more than just a large city, in fact, the seventh largest city by population, 1.5 million, in the United States. It’s the center of a metro area in South Texas that includes a variety of smaller cities, approximately 25 in number, that cover a broad range of different housing options and land areas that allow homeowners, and newcomers, to enjoy a festive yet beneficial home life like many other metro areas throughout the state that include ranches and farms as well as private homes.
San Antonio’s housing make-up consists of private houses, low and high level apartment houses, townhouses and mid condominiums, while outlying cities generally have private houses and two level apartments. And, as mentioned in the first paragraph, a number of farms and ranches sit some miles away from San Antonio that have, typically, one level houses.
Ranch and farm folks might live on land that varies in size from, perhaps 5 to 200 and more acres, depending on what’s available and what the farmers and ranchers have in mind for the next stop in their business plan.
One aspect of searching for a property is that it would be in proximity to a thoroughfare that can help in the pick-up and drop-off of various items necessary operating a successful ranch or farm.
And, if it’s not animals you’re intending to raise on the ranch, rather, fruits and vegetables on the farm, you’ll want the availability of sprinkler systems to be able to water on a regular basis.
Another thought comes to mind when a farm or ranch is a living option. The availability of a pond or lake would be a wonderful option when looking for a property to inhabit. If children are part of the family, the pond or lake is a positive step, one in the right direction. No doubt, children and even adults, on a hot summer day, will make quick use of the waterin’ hole.
