Terrell Hills (pop 5,391) is located five miles northeast of San Antonio, east of New Braunfels Avenue. It was named after Frederick Terrell, a local banker who was also the mayor of San Antonio in 1901. San Antonio annexed the area in 1939, but subsequently, a challenge to that rescinded the order and created the upscale, residential city of Terrell Hills.
The U.S. Census Bureau has determined the city is 1.6 square miles in size.
