Bulverde

Bulverde in 1846, Fredericksburg’s developers sought a passage to the city of the earlier  established  New Braunfels, founded in 1843. That passage took them through what is now downtown Bulverde, founded in 1850, and which now sits approximately 21 miles north of downtown San Antonio on U.S. Hwy 281, in Comal County. First called Pieper Settlement, it took its’ present name in 1880 from the post office that bore the name of Luciano Bulverdo, an early landowner.
