Elmendorf (pop 2,352), located 17 miles southeast of San Antonio was established in 1885, named for Henry Elmendorf, a former mayor of San Antonio. A small portion of the city is located in Wilson County.
The city has a total area of 4.5 square miles. School-aged children attend the East Central Independent School District schools.
